This year, the Rotary Club of Templestowe is pleased to be adding a new local community organisation, REAL Inc as a beneficiary of our fundraising and support activities. Based in Manningham, REAL brings together post-school aged men and women with an intellectual and/or physical disability and their families with the aim of providing a regular, on-going, cohesive support group. The organisation also advocates at all levels of government for increased awareness and organisational change to enable inclusive participation in recreational services, housing, and employment.
My name is Tiffany Diamond and I attended the 2020 Year 12 National Youth Science Forum (NYSF) Program with Templestowe Rotary Club (I'm on the right of the group photo). The NYSF is a non-for-profit organisation which runs programs to encourage young people in their passion for science, technology, engineering and maths. I heard of the NYSF program through a friend in early 2019 and as I have a great interest in science, I decided to do more research into what it is. I am so grateful to have been able to attend the NYSF 2020 program as I have learnt so much through my experience.
The Footy season has already started with AFLW off and running. We launched our famous Footy Tipping for this year at our meeting on 26 February at the Manningham Club. Former Essendon great and Captain Ken Fraser, was our guest speaker on this night. Our Footy tipping is a joint competition between our 3 clubs - Doncaster, Manningham and Templestowe, and friends of the members. Each year, we select a local charity to support with this activity.

Great to see everyone back after a long break. Our club through our fund raising will be sending donations to the East Gippsland Rotary Fire appeal. There has been some concern in the media about Bushfire donations not getting to those in need straight away when donating to large organisations. We are assured that when we send direct to the Bairnsdale Rotary club that is co ordinating the East Gippsland Bushfire appeal that the monies will be used almost immediately for those in need.
