President's Message: January 2021

What relief to get to 2021!
Since the last newsletter, we have gone back to face to face meetings and finished the year with a great Christmas celebration at the Manningham Club. Thank you to Graham Kane for the excellent organisation of that event. Graham is not a fan of zoom and is at his best when there is a live audience. Not that they were not alive on zoom, but the atmosphere is different.
We also had the Bunnings Sausage sizzle on Boxing Day. Thank you to all volunteers who helped on the day.
The RCT has now joined the RCD in running the Doncaster Hill Market. I believe that this partnership will be beneficial to both clubs and it is exciting that this has occured and may lead to other joint ventures. When Rotarians work together, the end result is always better than by working alone.
Another big event coming up is the Rotary Australia Day Community Lunch event which will be a joint effort by the Rotary club of Templestowe , the Rotary club of Warrandyte/ Donvale and Manningham Rotaract. A grant from the National Australia Day Council was obtained to help run this event.
Our Connecting Manningham project that we are running with Manningham Rotaract is still continuing to develop with new programs being added.
Planning by cluster clubs is also underway to celebrate 100 years of Rotary in Australia in 2021.
All the above projects and functions are partnership projects. For me that is the way forward in Rotary. To partner with other organisations or other Rotary clubs to run projects will benefit us all, and benefit the community which we serve.
So, Rotarians and friends, as I said last month we are in for some exciting times - let’s make 2021 a year that will make up for 2020.
Until then, keep following COVID safe rules and look out for one another.
Regards,
Brian Tyedin
