November will be a big month.
Coming up is the Manningham Family Festival at Finns Reserve on Sunday 17th November.
It promises to be a fantastic event with new onstage entertainment, new stalls and a live radio broadcast from 96.5 inner FM.
The Festival Planning Committee, which also includes the Rotaract club of Manningham, needs full club support as this is our main fund raiser and community event of the year.
If the weather is good, we would expect over 3,000 people to attend. Keep the date free – Sunday November 17th.
District Governor Shia Smart will be visiting our club on November 6th. That’s another important date.
On the October 30th meeting we had our Spring Racing Carnival meeting. James Cunningham was the jockey in charge of proceedings. The Hon. Kevin Andrews MP made a phantom race call on a race involving previous Melbourne cup winners. Kevin was not able to be present but sent his voice along by USB for the race call. A true phantom race call.
We were also joined at that meeting by Nick Wareham and Niranjan Ramjee, the Presidents of the Rotary Clubs of Manningham and Doncaster, respectively. We were delighted to be joined by a number of members of Rotary Club of Doncaster.
A cheque presentation of $1,400 was made to the CEO of Onemda , Simon Lewis, by the three Rotary Club Presidents being the funds raised from the Footy Tipping Competition.
Onemda is a local Doncaster East organization that supports the people with disabilities. Onemda is celebrating its 50th Anniversary and Rotary is very proud to be able to help Onemda with the work that is does in our community.
