Update on our project
This project was initiated during the 2017/18 Rotary year under Community Director Graeme Cobb and his committee and continued in the 2018/19 Rotary year with Rod Simkiss and his committee. The Rotary Club of Templestowe has partnered with the Bulleen Heights School to provide much needed shaded areas for their Autistic students in both their Primary and Secondary schools located in Bulleen and Lower Templestowe.
The shade sail for the secondary school will not be located in the area near Manningham Road as originally discussed but will now be located in the back oval over the fitness equipment. The reasoning being that the original proposal is being revised and the area now proposed provides shade over the fitness equipment where most of the senior students use during the day.
Stage 1 of this project featured in September. Click here for the details of the first stage. which was erected at the primary campus.
Stage 2 is to be installed at the BULLEEN HEIGHTS SCHOOL – Secondary Campus in Manningham Rd., Templestowe Lower during the January 2019 school holidays to provide shade over the existing exercise equipment.
The cost of purchasing and installing the shade sails for stage 2 is $9,350.
Funds raised from the sale of the Mazda Car raffle tickets will go towards the SHADE SAILS PROJECT. A $3,000 matching District Foundation Grant from Rotary International will also go towards this project.
The Bulleen Heights School Parents and Friends Association will work with our Rotary Club to organise a High Tea as part of fundraising for the Shade Sails Project.
