Base Camp - August 11 2018
A selection of the main course offerings, Butter chicken, Balti Beef, mixed vegetables (and a tipple or two!)

Our first Club Social Event this year was a sumptuous dinner at Base Camp Indian Restaurant .

Dan and Belinda Hession  hosted a convivial pre-dinner gathering at their home where sparkling drinks and tasty nibbles were served before our ascent to nearby Base Camp.

Thirty-two members and friends, including  Lea – our exchange student, shared generously-proportioned serves of Indian and Nepalese cuisine. Entrees included:

  • Samosas,
  • Chicken Tikka from the tandoor,
  • Lamb Seekh Kebab.

Main course choices included:

  • Butter Chicken,
  • Tin Masale Ka Goshta (a diced lamb pie) and
  • spicy Balti Beef
  • Eggplant and Mixed Vegetables

Papadams, chutney, naan bread and rice accompanied the meal. Such was the abundance of fine food that we barely had room for a complementary desert, Gulab Jamin (milk dumplings and ice cream).                                                                                                                                                                                Special mention and sincere thanks go to owner, Durga, who once again provided us with a delightful dinner at modest cost.  No wonder we returned to Base Camp after being so well treated last year!
