Message from our Club President (Jun 4)

Last Wednesday PP James Cunningham organised a fantastic Pride of Workmanship awards event. The room was packed and it was a happy event where five very well deserving winners were presented with their award by the Mayor of Manningham, Andrew Conlon.

The winners were: Denise Prowd from The Travelstore; Maria Obregon, Susan O’Connor and Martine Woodmason from Doncare; and Robert Dawson from Whitefriars College. Read more information on these awards later in this newsletter. We had a great presentation on workmanship from Ian Goldsmith from RC Manningham (and Bendigo Bank) and a long list of very welcome visitors and guests. Huge congratulations to James Cunningham on organising another fabulous event.

On Saturday night our club was represented at the District 9810 Changeover event where DG Malcolm Chiverton handed over the collar of office to DGE Russell Gurney. Of course responsibilities do not change until 1 July 2018 but it was a great event. RC Templestowe was one of the twelve clubs to receive a District 9810 recognition for Club: Projects; PR and Communication. In fact, all four clubs in the City of Manningham Cluster, received an award and we all thank AG Lyndon Smith for his great guidance during the 2017/18 year.

Also on Saturday night was the Dine for a Cure Gala Dinner for 2018 in aid of Brain Cancer Research and our club was represented at this event. We look forward to hearing how the event went and how much money was raised for this very worthy cause.

This Wednesday we are very much looking forward to our ever popular Primary Schools Speech Competition. This year the event will be held at the Templestowe Valley Primary School and it promises to be another fabulous experience hearing a group of amazingly talented young people, present their speeches.

Yours in Rotary “Making a Difference”,
