We had an extraordinary Rotary evening Wednesday April 11, with almost 90 members from all four Rotary Clubs in the City of Manningham in attendance. A big thank you to Presidents David Grieve (RC Doncaster), Roger Chong (RC Manningham) and David George (RC Warrandyte/Donvale) for assisting with club attendances at this event.
We heard from our guest speaker Duncan Elliott, CEO of the North East Link Authority (NELA), who presented on the huge North East Link project, the route, plans and context for this enormous project which will commence in 2020 and be completed by 2027!
The presentation was detailed and well explained and there was also a lot of time for questions, of which there were many. All those in attendance enjoyed the evening and while there are some who are not keen on this project, it is very clear that a great deal of thought and research has gone into the planning and every possible consideration is being made for those who will feel the largest impact.
Thursday April 19 our club was very proud to be running its 28th Schools ANZAC Service for school children in the local community. This year around 750 were in attendance. Our guest speaker at the service was Matthew Guy MP, Victorian Opposition Leader. It was another special service where we join with our local young people to remember all those who have served our country in conflicts and who have made the ultimate sacrifice.
Yours in Rotary “Making a Difference”,
