Message from our Club President (Apr 4)

At our club’s 41st birthday celebration on Wednesday night (Mar 28) ,we had an extra exciting event. After the very sad loss of our club’s President Elect, Erik Rubens in December 2017, we had a club Special General Meeting and were delighted to vote in three past presidents, Dan Hession, Keith Anderson and Bruce Evans, to take up the challenge in a shared President’s role in 2018/2019. The group has already met three times and are in the process of appointing their Board and developing plans for their year. I am sure everyone will join me in congratulating Dan, Keith and Bruce and giving them all our support, to help them through their year.

The birthday party itself was a great event with many members and quite a few partners enjoying a sumptuous three course meal. A big thank you to Graham Kane and Michael Mimmo for doing a great job at organising the event. Yours truly did a presentation on 1977, reminiscing on what Rotary was like at the start and travelling back in time to recall events that occurred 41 years ago. Members also recalled what they were doing in 1977 for the copper pot which was a lot of fun. A great time was had by all.

Yours in Rotary “Making a Difference”,

Janis McFarland
