Message from our Club President (Jan 30)

The year is now up and running and our club eased into the year gently with a relaxing social evening in the Clarendon Room at the Manningham Club. We caught up on what has happened and what is going to happen soon, and had a lot of laughs in the process.

Australia Day was very exciting with three club members receiving 2018 Menzies Community Australia Day Awards – more information is outlined in a separate post. Huge congratulations to Graham Kane, Helen Lewtas and Rosina Cincotta!

The ever popular District 9810 Conference is coming up fast, being held from Friday 2 March to Sunday 4 March 2018 in a brand new function centre in the centre of Bendigo. This is always a great way to enlarge our thinking beyond our own club to the District level and to liaise with other club members in a relaxed and stimulating atmosphere. We are looking forward to a good attendance from our club at this year’s conference.

This coming Wednesday, 31 January 2018, we will hear a very important presentation from an expert who will tell us about just how important bees are to our environment and our future. This is something we have all heard about and this presentation will bring us up to date on the facts – a presentation not to be missed.

We also have some exciting and interesting activities and presentations coming up so be sure to check out our website and newsletters and ensure you don’t miss out on anything. 2018 is going to be a great year!

Yours in Rotary “Making a Difference”,

Janis McFarland
