WOW! What a massive day it was on Sunday for our Finns Family Festival!!!
A HUGE thank to all members, partners and friends who helped on the day, including the Kiwanis on the BBQ. We were indeed fortunate with the weather as well. Thank you to Kathy and Tony Monley for all the work, organising, logistics, money management and loading and unloading of trucks that you both did.
Also, a big thank you to everyone involved with this event for the part that you played as a contributor to the RC Templestowe team – we couldn’t have done it without you! Also, a special thank you to our newer members and partners who helped with Finns Festival for the first time. It was hard work before, during and after and there was no shortage of sore backs, sore feet, sore muscles and sunburn at the end of the day but also a strong feeling of satisfaction for a job well done. Interim figures from Treasurer Tony show that the 2017 Finns Festival was one of the more successful festivals since we started running this event, so well done to all!
Last week we had our club’s AGM and voted in Erik Rubens as our club president for the year 2018/2019 and PP Brian Tyedin as club president for 2019/2020. Congratulations Erik and Brian! We also heard from Neele Huebner, our exchange student, who gave us a great presentation about herself, her family and her home town of Bremen in Germany, and gave us an impromptu German language lesson! On the same evening, six members of our club attended the very successful Manningham Business Excellence Awards Gala Dinner where the winners were announced. This is an important initiative for Manningham local businesses and RC Templestowe has been involved since inception.
This week’s meeting should be a bit of fun with a visit from LAARFS (Laughing, All Abilities Really Friendly Singers). A well-deserved relaxing evening of fun and music for all our weary festival workers!
Yours in Rotary “Making a Difference”,
