Preparations for the Family Festival at Finns are now in full swing with only three weeks to go. Project Leader Kathy needs lots of assistance and we all need to support her to make this again – the best Finns Festival ever – through continuous improvement! The great news is that this year, the date has been planned with camels in mind, and the very popular camel rides will be back at the festival. I will be organising the club’s Cakes and Crafts stall this year with the assistance of Diane Fisher, and we hope that all non‐member partners will be able to help with contributions for items for sale and will also provide some assistance on the day.
Before that we will have our second BBQ at Bunnings in Eltham on Friday 10 November. This is expected to be another great day with our club’s efforts being greeted with open arms by hungry visitors and staff at Bunnings! We are hoping for another successful day so if you haven’t helped on this BBQ yet, come along and join in the fun.
Last week we heard from Vivian Qui who attended RYLA as a group leader after having completed the first course in 2016. Vivian demonstrated her new‐found confidence in her talk to the club and she attributes her increased confidence, communication and public speaking skills entirely to the RYLA program.
This week we look forward to welcoming Rhys Coulson, the Principal of Templestowe Heights Primary School and hearing more about the school. Our club was born from parents at this primary school back in 1977 so we have a long history together. We even have an ex‐principal of the school in our club, so it should prove to be a very interesting evening.
Yours in Rotary “Making a Difference”,
Club President, Rotary Templestowe
